By the end of 1249 SH, the drought of the interior part of the Iranian plateau got worse. The drought and famine had affected the Iranians, and one third of the country died of hunger. Concurrently, some traders from Yazd immigrated to other cities and countries. Haj Yadollah Feisal and Haj Seyyed Akhavan Fatemi, who were men of fame and traders in Yazd, left Yazd because of their religious background and immigrated to Toos, Khorasan. At that time, business was prosperous in the village of Toos around the streets ending in the sacred shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH).
Mahmood Feisal, the son of Yadullah, established Jahan Nema Company for tea packaging when the tea business started in Khorasan. He could rapidly develop his ancestors’ path in the poultry industry, construction industry, and the brick kiln in a new style proportionate to the market and the requirements of the time. In the late 1940s and 1960s (1348 SH), Mohammad Saeed, the son of Mahmood, was born in a noble and large family who were originally from Yazd. His greatest teachers and professors were often not so literate but had a lot to train an eager teenager about business and above all about their personal lives. Values such as gentility, truthfulness and honesty in business, adherence to friendship, and above all supporting the family and respecting parents were the lessons he acquired from these professors and preferred to pursue the family business. He started from a small shop of his father in the shopping mall of Mashhad at the time called “Payeen Khiaban”. His enthusiasm and innate keenness in trade, especially tea, gradually made him familiar to the main Iranian businessmen of this profession. With the beginning of the 1990s and the economic reconstruction period, the required substrate was provided for Saeed’s dreams to be realized. He always intended to register a brand and establish specialized tea packaging according to the global standards. In 1993, he registered Shahsavand and Tabran brands and launched a small workshop for tea packaging. Shahsavan is an Iranian word meaning a fast horse. Tabaran was the ancient name of one of the two old cities of Toos. When most Iranian tea industry activists were not interested in investing in Kenya’s CTC tea, he was the first who started packaging this tea. The first packaging of Kenya’s tea sold with the Shahsavand brand had an ant sign, which is the sign for the Iranians’ common term for this new emergent tea. After years, “Ant Head” tea is still assumed a highly innovative and perhaps the most courageous plans to introduce a product in Iran. In 2014, the small workshop could no longer meet the needs of the market and customers. Since family is a primary institution for him, he invited his two brothers (each continuing their father’s jobs and following construction and poultry industries professionally). Feisal’s brothers bought a land in Mashhad’s Toos Industrial Estate and established the first equipped tea packaging factory in an area of over twelve thousand square meters. In the following years, the packaging of other food products including saffron, legumes, rice, etc. was also involved in the company’s program although the loyalty to tea has never and will never be missed as is true about the first love. Now Shahsavand is considered a primary industrial hub of Iran having four holdings: Shahsavand Zarrin (manufacture of tea, coffee, herbal tea, saffron, spices, dried fruit, legumes, coffee and cocoa products, instant drinks, and cold drinks), Shahsavand Simin (manufacture of canned foods, compote, andjam), Shahsavand Mehr Samin with the T-Shop brand (specialized shops of coffee, tea, herbal tea, and related accessories) and offering franchise, Shahsavand Beinolmelal Paydar in the free-trade zone (for transit and introducing Iranian products to world markets), 480 goods in 20 goods groups, 46 brands and 600 empathetic employees. It has the honor of cooperating with several government organs and private centers by offering high-quality and most profitable products.
